ART: PHOTOGRAPHY

Statement:
I am a full-time photographer shooting primarily virtual tours and brochure photography for my business, Insight Virtual Tours (www.insightvirtual.com) here on the beautiful central coast of California.
After a quick stint living "The American Dream" (corporate job, marriage, two nice cars and a house) I realized that it was no dream of mine at all. I quickly pulled up roots and returned to the source of my inspiration, my people, my home, here on the central coast...and haven't looked back since.
As an artist, I am diverse and see things differently at different times. I may not be the best or into the latest and greatest in digital technology, but there is love and passion in every image that I touch. From clicking of the shutter to signing the matte and framing--they are all pieces of me and my journey.
Take a look, give me feedback...I'm open to anything in this process. If it makes you feel something, do yourself a favor and purchase a piece.
Background:
Having grown up an hour and a half's drive from Yosemite, it's only natural for Ansel Adams to be one of my hero's. At the age of 11, I had the opportunity through school to take a black and white photography class. I immediately knew that I belonged behind the lens and in a darkroom.
I studied photography and art all the way through high-school and college, and even argued with my college professor as she tried out the newest thing--"Photoshop". I was steadfast in my belief that it would never catch on-for half of the "art" of photography was in the darkroom. Though I do miss dodging and burning, I can't argue now that digital imagery and photoshop have opened doors to places I would have never been able to go as a 35mm photographer.
I am still finding my direction as an artist as to how far I want to manipulate something to make it look "my way" without crossing the threshold from photography to another medium. Again, it's all a process, an evolution, as is life and our experience here on this planet.
"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence."-Ansel Adams
