Statement:
I grew up in Seattle watching my grandma paint and had always wanted to become an artist. It wasn't until high school that I took it seriously and really pursued painting. I'm not much of a drawer... but i can paint. I had my paintings in fairs and on the cover of the Spokesman Review with a full page layout in OUR GENERATION. My art became my escape. If there was ever a bad day or there was a day filled with so much joy that it could not be contained, my brushes would take over and create. Sometimes the creations were terrible and got tossed, but once in a while there would be that one painting that would go and would become something that i knew i would want to share with others. Being an artist comes with great responsibilities and many a time I would great artists block. I would have a great run then months or years at a time nothing would come. But what i loved most of all was that there was not a deadline to imagination. Although i did work a full-time m-f job and had to commit to my regular work schedule with my art i didn't. If i felt creative at 2 in the morning i could run with it and not have to finish that night. I did a painting that took me months to finish and I can always see something else on it that needs to be fixed.
