ART: PAINTING

Statement:
The style of my work is still shifting; every new town, each new experience brings new inspiration. Many of my motifs stem from an interest in archietcture and urbanism. Street lights, bricks, and telephone poles seem to make their way into many of my paintings, regardless of my intentions. I work primarily with acrylic, adding texture with found materials, i.e. cardboard, metal scraps, cloth, loose tabacco, etc. My art serves as an outlet for memories gone stale, frustration, wonder.
"People do not know why they raise a work of art to fame. Far from being connoisseurs, they believe that they see in it hundreds of virtues which justify so much interest, but the true reason for their applause is an unconscious sympathy." Thomas Mann, Death in Venice
