ART: PHOTOGRAPHY
Jeanette Brown
Hometown:

Statement:
My name is Jeanette. My art has been described as impressionistic and nostalgic. My style is unlike any other I've encountered. I use black and white infrared film to capture images (this brings a very dreamlike quality along with a lot of grain)! I then "color" the images using Photoshop. It's painting without the mess! I love light and since photography is essentially capturing light I think I'm in the right field. I even named my company In the Light Photography.
Background:
I have loved photography since my dad showed me his camera when I was a very young girl. I followed this passion through high school as a yearbook/newspaper photographer. In college, at the University of Arizona, I majored in Art with an emphasis in photography. I loved printing in the darkroom and soon fell in love with hand coloring my images. For years I worked as a portrait/wedding photographer and while still in college, I was hired at a local professional photo lab, Centric Photo, to head up their digital department. This is where I really learned how to use Photoshop! I worked at Centric for ten years until my husband and I moved to Phoenix to help start a church on the ASU campus. I am now a full time mother and an artist.
Upcoming Events:
I am a current member of the Mesa Art League and participate in most of their shows. Sometimes you'll find me at Mesa's Second Friday Night Out events.
