ART: PHOTOGRAPHY
Juliette LaCour
Hometown:
Metairie, Louisiana
Statement:
I write, I take photographs, I am slowly unwraveling my identity through my art.
Background:
I am everything, I am nothing and I am far from done here. I've been writing ever since I was old enough to understand the alphabet, clacking away on typewriters, scribbling in the margins of notebooks, filling every crevease of the page. I've been taking photographs ever since my first polaroid camera in the early 90's and since then have been combining the two into the sculpture of my identity. I consist of many layers, I dare you to stick around and watch them shed.
Other:
I was recently published in The Puck Review: three pieces of writing and two photographs, Jan-Feb 2008 issue.
You can also find my work at my Flickr account.

we wish on the strokes of a clock like petals on a daisy. only this time we're not little girls blushing at the thought of a kiss on the cheek from that one boy, thinking the petals will determine our fate. we depend on the fraile hands of a clock, old and tired from ticking. we're older now and we've learned a few tricks they don't prepare you for in school. echos in your mind of a familiar voice; it could be you, preparing yourself for what's ahead. your tongue rolling back words like a red carpet. someone is always trying to assasinate you, in one way or another.Price:
