Statement:

artist’s statement I believe that this body of work began during childhood;standing in front of my father’s workbench and admiring all that lay before me—tangled wire and rust, heavy metal and bits of color, dusty cabinets hiding treasures beneath faded cobwebs.

And even now, to find objects that were once used

and maybe even loved, held for a time and then discarded—to thrift stores and alleyways and trash cans;to discover their astounding beauty and fall in love, this is what I do. And my hope is that you find beauty here too,in the rust and metal and bits of color, and also in wherever your journey might lead you—out onto the sidewalk, past the age-old doorways and tin cans,

down into my father’s basement.

Background:

about the artist When I first saw images of Joseph Cornell’s work nearly eight years ago, I recall catching my breath and thinking that’s for me. The experience changed my life.  Since then, I have had the honor of exhibiting my assemblages in more than forty-five galleries and museums. My work is currently held in private collections in the US, Mexico and Europe. Recently, twenty-one of my works were exhibited at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA, alongside of Cornell’s retrospective (curated by the Smithsonian Institute). Eternal thanks to my life partner, Eli Hans. My favorite objet trouve.
