ART: OTHER
Brandon Grijalva
Hometown:
Fullerton, California
Statement:
I'm a freelance artist, deriving inspiration from Takeshi Takeuchi, Yasuhiro Kanoh, Ken Akamatsu, Jin Kobayashi, Nobuyuki Anzai, and Kazurou Inoue. As far as storytelling is concerned, I draw most of my inspiration from Kinoko Nasu for his works Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, and Kara no Kyoukai. I draw a very light and traditional style, often compared to the 'moe' or 'seinen' genre of Japanese animation, but I feel I draw more from the public doujinshi market's overall appeal and take on original storytelling and use of references and callbacks to their inspirations. Look, if you will, at my vision of creativity, I draw not for money or for fame, but rather for release and my own personal therapy.
Background:
Trained in both classical and digital art methods in college, my particular style of drawing is for the most part original and self-taught, taking many aspects from other styles, and tweaking them enough to call them my own.

Fellow artist Tsukikyu and I will be putting out a doujinshi containing original material this year at the Anime-Expo, July 3rd-6th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. More info can be found at Anime-Expo Website
