Statement:
I am not just a Photographer. Although it takes great skill to take an amazing photograph… to place the subject in an exciting way within the frame, compensate for or adjust to existing lighting, and so forth, for me Photography is a start to finish procedure.. from setting up the shot or just recognizing the opportunity.. through the editing process, from the tiniest tweaks or full on image manipulation, to layout and print. Wraven is a full-service creative studio. I don’t do cookie cutter anything. Every client that I work with and every project that I sign on for becomes a unique experience. I will do my best to give the client the best product possible and at a reasonable fee. You won’t find better rates at a comparable level of quality and attention to detail.
Background:
Childhood:Art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. My parents met in 1974 in a high school art class. My mother is a freelance folk artist. She cultivated a love for art in me and my sister from a very young age. My father is an electronics genius whose doodles rival seasoned professionals. Art is in my blood. I have only now begun to truly understand this concept, having my own child’s doodles to scrub off the walls. Education:My artistic education started as a mix of public schooling and private classes taught by Fleur Byers, a successful area Fine Artist. I graduated from Red Land High School in 2001, having taken nearly every art class available to me. I attended York College of Pennsylvania from 2001-2004, working toward a degree in Graphic Design with a Fine Art/Photography minor. Professional Experience:Early in my college tenure I became heavily involved in local music, managing, booking, and promotion local bands and independent musicians. I began my career in music industry art doing a few minor Album layouts and more live photos than I can count. Wraven Design was started in 2002 (named after a font I created in Design 100 during freshman year). Presently I work with artists in six states, ranging from Singer/Songwriters to Goth Bands. I specialize in Album Layouts and Promotional Packages. Personal Work:In 2006 I produced a portrait series featuring The Seven Deadly Sins which was displayed at The Purple Mug Café & Gallery in Lancaster Pennsylvania as their Featured Artist for November 2006. A portrait series featuring classic movie monsters was due out in the fall of 2007 but was postponed do to the release of a prime client, the Harrisburg-based Dark Rock band Deja’ Vudoo’s debut album “Scratching the Surface” and it’s extensive Album Release Promo Package. This series, tentatively titled “Monsters Can Be Sexy Too…” is still pending completion and has yet to have an official release planned. In addition to the darker side of my personal art, I also enjoy photographing nature, architecture, and children. Starting with the birth of my son Kieran, I began shooting children’s portraits on a regular basis for family and friends. This has since branched out into a service offered at my studio for babies, toddlers, school age children, young adults –senior photos, couples, families, and adult headshots.
