Statement:

Combining world aid with fine art is what I would like to do for my career. Ideally I would like to continue with my education, defining myself, my art, and bettering my techniques. Eventually I will own my own gallery and sell my pieces with a generous portion of the profits being donated towards a world aid organization, such as Green Peace and Breast Cancer Research. I will continue to explore and push myself and my art until I have opened my gallery and successfully used my resources to educate and help. My most recent work coincides with my goals of philanthropy and is particularly driven by my interest in Africa. I have been inspired by Africa more than anything else, recently and the topic has driven all of my pieces, taken over my mind and emotions.

Background:

It was Christmas Eve and we were all sitting around the tree in my grandparent’s living room. Presents had already been opened and were scattered across the floor along with discarded ribbons, bows, and wrapping paper. My aunt Giulliana was sitting beside me while I was drawing on the pad of paper I had just received as a gift. It was that Christmas Eve that my aunt Giulliana noticed my little doodles and taught me to draw a cube. I was amazed at how three dimensional the cube was compared to the flat squares I had previously been drawing. I filled pages and pages with cubes, big and small. I was about eight years old. That single memory has never slipped my mind, and that same desire to draw and learn has never subsided.

Upcoming Events:

Currently, I am inspired by the tragic events occurring in Africa, particularly a Kenyan village a close friend of mine grew up in. Together, we are planning to create and sell pieces of work with the proceeds going towards the aid of the village. I have put my heart and soul into creating numerous lithographs and drawings inspired by the people and circumstances of this village.
