Statement:

I believe in the value and power of art as a vital expression of culture and personal spirit. Art integrated into the environment is a celebration and acknowledgement of our lives and sense of self. Art can turn ordinary daily living into an extraordinary sense of being alive.

I design and execute interior/exterior murals and personal portraits. I specialize in creating a customized pseudo environment by muraling an entire room or wall. I enjoy doing startling or familiar "ghost" figures in unexpected places. I have the technical drafting skills for painting embellishments to fine architectural spaces such as archways, domed ceilings, home theaters, or any personal space, in a style that is conducive to the decor and the clients desires. I do custom work and designs for any "hide" challenge. I can combine mediums and techniques for an unusual and unique effect, for instance, tile or marble inlay combined with a fresco on the wall space around a fireplace mantle or a painted sculptured housing to camouflage unsightly equipment in a living space. I can invent a fantastic solution to any design challenge, create novel art existential to the space, or simply add the gilding to an otherwise already perfect scene.

Background:

I have worked as a lead muralist, teacher, and supervisor on numerous public murals. I have organized and collaborated with large diverse groups of artists and youths. I have designed and singularly executed public and private murals. I have painted everything from telling personal portraits to detailed decorative furniture. I have also designed, built and painted magical functioning theater sets.

I have created sculptures in a variety of mediums from wood to porcelain. I have also manufactured molds, done glazing, china painting, and pattern-making.

I am currently studying and dabbling in "buon fresco", the art of painting on fresh plaster as it was done in the days of Michelangelo. Fresco is a perfect method to revive for today's eloquent mission or mediterranean style estates done with stucco exteriors and hand plastered interiors.

Imagine a true fresco in the style of Giotto or Tintoretto ripening on your wall... imagine!

Upcoming Events:

I rarely post paintings or do shows as most of my work time is spent doing custom commissions, while my personal time is spent experimenting, learning, and painting gifts from the heart. However, I do post original works on rare occasions and look forward to doing more in the future!
