Statement:
I choose symbols that are both personal and universal in their significance, creating an atmosphere into which the viewer can step, bringing with them their memories, worries, ambitions, and desires. Through such lenses, the buried symbols, repeated themes, and iconic images take on specific meanings, hidden to all but the observer. The urge towards chaos is restrained by creating lists, categories and numbers, always counting in order to frame the anxiety of the unknown and create order. Patterns and repetition of distinct elements add a sense of security through rhythm while the deliberate contrasts of texture, lines, color, and objects provoke drama.
